How to shoot a Month of content in 1 Day

Content Batching pt.2

Hi, my name is Kailee and I’m super anal. I always have my entire feed for the month planned ahead. Why? So that my IG grid remains consistent and I have all my posts ready to go with one click of a button! Here’s part 2 of the Socially Kailee content batching method: GETTING YOUR IMAGES:

1)Content batching: step one is planning out all your post ideas for the month. I write out a list to refer back to for shooting. You can learn all my content post batching tricks on the Content Batching pt.1 Blog Post ๐Ÿ™‚

2)Research: I have a Pinterest board made before every shoot: what cool ideas I want to try, what poses I like, angles, colour grades etc. If you’re trying something with heavy photoshop effects you should look up youtube or blogs on achieving that shot/edit. Here’s a peak at my holiday content planning board:

3) Shot list: Some people see photos and think “just snap and go”, but there is SO much more to photography: testing your settings, finding the right lighting, which poses work, locations etc. To get all your money shots in a day you need a game plan. Use your content ideas for the month to list out all the shots you need. Sometimes if I need visuals I even make little story boards.

ย

** If you’re new to photography and shooting in specific conditions (ie. night shoots, various weather etc.) make sure to research camera settings beforehand to save time!

ย

4)Props and Gear: have all your props listed and ready to go (maybe that means a shopping trip beforehand!). If you have specific camera gear you need, have that ready too (I always have my tri-pod handy, go pro for video, and giant clips for DIY sheet backdrops anywhere.

ย

5)Outfit changes: If you are shooting a month’s worth of content in one day, you need to have different outfits or settings. This creates the illusion that the pictures are from different days. When planning your outfits you should keep your colour palette in mind too! (this goes for backdrops and settings as well).

6)Stock Photos: If you are using stock rather than your own photography, use your content list and save all your stock shots for the month in one folder. Sites like Pexels and Unsplash offer royalty free stock photos ready to use.

7)Filters and Presets:The key to achieving a consistent aesthetic is to have one or two key filters or presets. By now most mobile users are familiar with Adobe Lightroom, I personally use photoshop for all my editing. Both allow you to create and save presets that you can apply to your photos with one click of a button. On instagram I try to always use the same filter for my photos. I favour Ludwig ๐Ÿ™‚

8) Efficient Drives: Content adds up quickly. In order to stay on top of everything, organizing your hard drives should be a priority. For example, I import all my photos into one folder by shoot date. I โ€˜clean upโ€™ files by their camera name and then separate them into their content categories ie. Portrait shots, stock shots etc. The final edited shots that are ready to post also go into a separate folder.
